The New York City Ballet's Nutcracker started this weekend and I love going to the opening performance. It is wonderful seeing all the little kids, the new apprentices in the company, and best of all, the company dancing all the wonderful parts. Only a few years ago Lydia was in it, first as a soldier and then as a hoop. Now she works as a supervisor of the little kids - it might be her painting on the red cheeks, getting them upstairs backstage on time for their entrances...You can't believe how organized everything is behind the scenes at the theater! And very exciting, in a couple of weeks Lydia is going to be on stage herself - in the Nutcracker in Stamford. The students in the advanced division at SAB are all very busy with rehearsals, getting ready. Lydia is cast as coffee - the Arabian dancer!
